Lamborghini has unveiled three own-branded phones and one own-branded tablet in Russia. That’s right. The Italian sports car manufacturer will produce these luxury devices. What’s more interesting is that the tablet and one of the handsets will run on Android.
The Lamborghini TL700 Android handset runs on Android 2.3 and features:
- 3.7 inch WVGA sapphire crystal display
- Qualcomm processor of unknown speed
- 5MP rear camera
- VGA front-facing camera
- 4GB of internal memory
- 1,400 mAh battery
The case is made of expensive materials as you might expect, including gold and crocodile skin. The TL700 will run about $2,750.
The L2800 Lamborghini tablet also runs Android 2.3, but is reportedly to receive an update to Android 4.0 at some point. It features:
- 9.7 inch, 1024 x 768 pixels sapphire display
- 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor (probably single core)
- 5MP rear camera
- 4GB of internal memory
- MicroSD card support
- Pair of speakers on the back
The L2800 will run about $2,290.
Lamborghini also showcased two other phones – the TL688 Spyder and the TL820 Spyder 2. These are just feature phones with similar designs. The TL688 has a 2 inch QVGA display, GPRS / EDGE connectivity, 3MP rear camera, and 4GB of internal storage space. The TL820 has a 2.4 inch screen with a high 640 x 480 pixel resolution, and features 3G, a 5MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 1GB of internal memory (expandable), and a 1,200 mAh battery. As the luxury devices that they are both gold and leather were used to create their cases. The TL688 Spyder will run from 60,000 RUB to 70,000 RUB or about $1,842 to $2,149, and the higher priced TL820 Spyder 3 will run 80,000 RUB or about $2,456. It is expected that all four Lamborghini products will be available beginning in August. There is no word yet about whether these products will make it to other markets.
Lamborghini has ventured in to the mobile space twice before. In 2008 Lamborghini in collaboration with ASUS launched the ZX1 but that project was eventually cancelled. Then in 2009 Lamborghini teamed up with TAG Heuer to introduce the Meridiist Lamborghini, a limited edition handset.
